‘Muthu’ minted a whopping 400 million JPY whereas ‘Baahubali 2’ managed to amass 300 million JPY. The highest-grossing Indian movie in Japan is currently the Rajinikanth starrer ‘ Muthu’ followed by SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali 2’. ‘RRR’ has now replaced the Rajkumar Hirani directorial to be the third highest-grossing Indian film at the Japanese box office. ‘3 Idiots’ which starred Khan, Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi had a lifetime collection of about 170 million JPY. The epic action drama has managed to mint about 180 million yen/JPY or roughly Rs 10 crore in 17 days of its release. The movie was released on 209 screens and 31 Imax screens across 44 cities and prefectures in Japan. SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘ RRR’ has surpassed Aamir Khan’s comedy-drama ‘3 Idiots’ to become the highest-grossing Indian language movie in Japan.
